Case Study #2 - Amtrak, Groton, Connecticut

Challenge:

Protect and waterproof the existing PVC roof from further deterioration. The 12-year old roof had many leaks due to seam failure, as well as areas of ponding water. The owner was looking for an alternative to removing and replacing the existing PVC roof.

Solution:

The entire roof system was pressure washed free of dirt, debris and other contaminants. All the seams and penetrations were taped using Weather Barrier WB504 Adhesive Tape to ensure total encapsulation. One coat of weather Barrier Moisture Cure Urethane was applied over the WB504 Tape, and then a full coat was applied to the entire PVC roof substrate.

Finally, one coat of Weather Barrier EPDM One was applied over the Moisture Cure Urethane. This provided the owner with a white, seamless roof coating system that resists ponding water and offers high solar reflectance, thus reducing energy costs. This 10-year warranted Weather Barrier roof coating system will ultimately extend the life of the roof.
